Roderick has handled a wide range of oil & gas, construction, employment and commercial litigation matters. He has acted on substantial disputes in the construction industry ranging from power plants and diamond mines to general commercial sites. Roderick has extensive experience advising employers and senior employees on wrongful dismissal and discrimination, unfair competition, labour standards, interference with contractual relations and executive severances. Mr Payne has successfully appeared in every level of court in Alberta as well as the Federal Tax Court and Court of Appeal. Mr. Payne is a member of the Northwest Territories bar where he litigates construction disputes and advises aboriginal and Métis organizations. |

Associate Martyn G. Laurin became an associate at Hustwick, Payne in March of 2007. He obtained a Bachelor of Science (Specialization in Geology) from the University of Alberta in 1998, and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta in 2004. Martyn was admitted to the Alberta Bar in September 2005. Martyn practices mainly in the areas of family and litigation of all types. Martyn also practices in the areas of wills and estates, corporate law and real estate. |

Nicholas advises on a wide range of
corporate/commercial matters and real estate. Nicholas also has a special
interest in franchise and distribution law.

Associate
Jon advises on a wide
range of matters as a solicitor in corporate/commercial and business law. He has
experience with business incorporation, shareholder agreements, reorganization,
corporate transactions, large-scale financing, federal and provincial regulatory
conformity, and the financing of international collateral. Jon obtained his
Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies (with a dual area of
concentration in Economics) at the University of Western Ontario in concert with
his multi-IFR Commercial Pilot Licence in 2006, completed his Bachelor of Laws
at the University of Alberta in 2009, and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in
2010. Jon considers his business and economics background to provide him with a
sense of business reality that is advantageous to his clients. He considers
practical, timely, and effective advice to be a priority in his practice.
In his free time he enjoys rock climbing, skiing, and learning guitar. |
